How can constructed language be used to increase inclusiveness in our society?
- Initial - break down invisible borders in our societies.
- I’ve chosen to look at Esperanto in particular, which is a stateless language
- At the moment the goal of my project is to increase the amount of people who speak Esperanto
- I read a lot about the language, and one of the claimed issues that I found, was an opinion that Esperanto will never succeed at becoming a universal language because it doesn’t have a culture
- I don’t necessarily agree with that, but I thought that in order to expand and manifest the culture, I could develop a global culture building tool
- At the moment I’m planning on making a visual identity for Esperanto, which will be informed by digital making, done by users
- They will be able to write small texts or poems, and they will be able to make visuals
- I’ve started testing the visual making brushes → wanted to be organic and human
Worries
- I’m not sure if the making needs to be even more conceptual
- I’ve thought about merging works from different users, to symbolise how Esperanto is kind of a hybridization between lots of cultures
- Summary → research question
